Spikes

With a nod to seventies punk rock, one of this season’s big trends is the revival of spikes. Christian Louboutin’s super popular Rollerball shoes that were on the scene back in 2009 had a massive impact on the fashion world and it was these which opened the door to a mass of similarly spikey studded footwear. The trend setting Rollerballs are actually still available, but for those of us who haven’t got a spare £765 in our shoe budget there are plenty of lower priced options around now.

Whilst spiked stilettos, loafers and ballet shoes offer a tougher edge to what are normally quite a delicate and feminine style of shoe, we just love the spiked block heel ankle boots championed by celebs like Fearne Cotton and Jessie J. They have great grunge appeal and are undoubtedly only for the fearless fashionista with the confidence to pull off such an attention grabbing style. For those of you yet to try spikes, be warned, they are fierce!
